Mezhyrich, or Mezhyrich Ostrozhsky (ukr. Межиріч, rus. Межирич) urban-type settlement (since 1959) founded in 14 century. In the 16-18 centuries - the town in Volyn Voivodeship as part of the Commonwealth. Since 1793 - as part of the Russian Empire. In the 19th - early 20th centuries - the township of Ostroh district of the Volyn province. In 1919–39 - in the Volyn Voivodeship as part of Poland, in 1939–91 - as part of the Ukrainian SSR.

In 1847, 309 Jews lived in Mezhyrich,
in 1897 - 456 Jews (30%).

In the 19th - early 20th centuries Jews made their living from small trade and crafts.

In 1913, Jews owned all 3 grocery shops in township.
The Jew S.Finkelshtein was engaged in the export of turpentine; the Jew O.Vays rented a big mill, in which 10 people worked.

During the Nazi occupation, the Jews of
Mezhyrich were evicted in the ghetto in Ostroh. They died with other Jews during the liquidation of the ghetto on October 15, 1942.
