In the 19th - early 20th centuries - the German agricultural colony of Vulnyanka (other name Big Volnyanka) of the Lutsk district of the Volyn province. In 1919–39 - as part of Poland, in 1939–91 - the Ukrainian SSR.
Since 1966 - as part of the village of urban type of Rozhische.
In 1897, 286 Jews lived in Volnyanka (21.9%),
in 1921 - 189 Jews (51.9%).
In 1913, Jews owned all 6 grocery shops in colony.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of inhabitants of Volnyanka gradually decreased.
The Jewish population of Volnyanka was destroyed during the Holocaust.
