Tomashhorod was first founded in 1800. At the beginning of the 20th century - the small township (655 people of total population) of Rivne district of the Volyn province in Russian Empire. It acquired the status of an urban-type settlement in 1960; in 2024, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Tomashhorod became a rural settlement.
