The first records about Jews in Pomoryany date back to 1605, when they were granted significant privileges. In 1628, 2 Jewish families containing taverns in Pomoryany. In 1654, a Jewish cemetery was laid.

In the middle of the 18th century Rabbi in Pomoryany was Avrom ben Moishe-Aron, later - Dovid-Tsvi Oyerbach, Meshulom-Zalman Ashkenazi, in the 19th century - Avrom Teumim, at the end of the 19th century -Meir-Yehuda Glaz.

At the end of the 19th century a Jewish school was opened in Pomoryans. At this time, Jews belonged to 3 mills, 19 out of 23 stores.

In 1880 Jewish population of the town settled 1910 people - 42.7% of the total population.

In 1914, 46 Jews were sent from Pomoryany to Ternopil.
In 1906–14, the rabbi of Pomoryany was Avrom-Mordhe-Sholom Toyb, in the 1920-30s - Dovid-Naftoli-Gertz Kagan.

In 1921, 799 Jews lived in Pomoryany - 23.7% of the population.

In the mid-1920s, a school with teaching in Hebrew was opened in Pomeranians.
In the 1920-30s there were branches of various Jewish parties and organizations.

In 1931, about 900 Jews lived here.

In the summer of 1941, Pomoryany occupied by troops of the Wehrmacht.
On October 26, 1942, Jews of Pomoryany and the surrounding villages (about 1.4 thousand people) were deported to the Belzhets death camp. The remaining 16 Jewish specialists were shot in July 1943.
Pomoriany (Ukrainian: Поморяни) is an urban-type settlement in Lviv region.

The first mentions of Pomoriany reach 14th century when the town was transferred to the ownership of ruthenian nobles Svynka. The highest development of the town took place in the 16th -17th centuries. That time Pomoriany was the center of the Calvinist movement, subsequently blasted by the Catholic Church.

The town was a prominent center of Ukrainian culture in the early twentieth century. During the Soviet industrialization town devoid of railways and enterprises gradually degraded.
